This week was interesting because, while I love taking photos of my outfits, I was tasked for my styling class to go out onto the streets and photograph some street style. After watching a documentary of Bill Cunningham, a fashion photographer, I always did wonder what it would be like to be him for a day. He used to ride around on his bike and take pictures of street fashion all around New York. He was an icon in the fashion industry and if you haven’t yet heard of him, I highly recommend you to watch Bill Cunningham New York on Netflix. To be photographed by him was an honor. He recently passed away in 2016; but his legacy will live on forever.
So back to my assignment, late Friday afternoon with my friend Sarah, I hit the streets of Little Five Points, camera in hand. Little five points is known for its artsy atmosphere along with the many wannabe rappers, homeless people and sketchy street vendors. At first it was daunting to go up to random strangers and ask to take a photo; but everyone was very kind and most were flattered that their outfits looked cute enough to be photographed by a complete stranger. Next time you see the girl on the streets with a cute outfit, let her know. It’s always nice to hear a compliment. While exploring such a cool area I knew I had to get some photos of my own. I donned on my cutest, casual street fashionable outfit and got some snaps. #atlstreetstyle
