So it’s been a year since my first blog post and that’s crazy. I’ve definitely learned a lot since then. Recently, I went through a closet declutter and stumbled upon these great blue high waisted pants. I loved these pants. They are soft, comfortable and flattering. But somehow these ended up in the dryer and shrunk a bit so they don’t fit like they used to. I’m a firm believer in being economical and environmentally friendly when it comes to my shopping habits. And I have a tendency to shop a lot. I always try to donate clothes, shop second hand, and up-cycle clothes whenever I can. I like to consider myself a creative person, so I got to thinking of how I could change these pants into something that I can wear.

The easiest step would be to make them into shorts, but they shrunk so much that they didn’t fit nicely around the waist. So my next thought was a tube top style dress or top.

I got to work and undid the seams and cut some length off the bottom. It was a little short so I decided to add some red fabric to the bottom to make it a bit longer. Then, I hemmed the raw bottom edge.
I next made some sleeves with elastic to make this one of those off the shoulder tops that has sleeves attached to the sides.

AND VOILA! I have a new dress that I can wear. I love coming up with ways to reuse and DIY clothes! There are some imperfections but I still am pretty proud of the outcome! Let me know if you want to see more!
